Know What You Can Sell — Not Just What You Have
Fresh produce inventory changes whenever product arrives, a customer commitment is made, a reservation holds stock or incoming product becomes available for pre-sale.
SLAKPI gives U.S. fresh produce distributors, wholesalers and importers one operational view of what is on hand, what can still be sold, what is reserved, what is committed, what is incoming and where the product came from.
That makes inventory useful to the people making buying, selling and operations decisions—not just a count sitting in a system.
Four inventory quantities answer four different questions
Quantity on hand alone cannot tell a sales team what is safe to promise.
SLAKPI separates inventory into four buyer-visible quantities:
| Inventory quantity | What it tells the team |
|---|---|
| QOH — Quantity on Hand | How much product is physically on hand. |
| AVL — Available to Sell | How much product is currently available for additional sales. |
| RSV — Reserved | How much product is already being held by reservations and related commitments. |
| Projected | What remains after commitments are considered. A negative Projected position is visibly flagged as oversold. |
Because the quantities represent different operational questions, a seller can distinguish product that exists from product that is still available to promise.
See produce the way it is actually traded
A produce category can carry the attributes that matter for that product, including fields such as size, grade, organic status, origin, label or brand, variety and unit of measure.
SLAKPI can show inventory grouped by attribute combination or at detailed PO-line level. The detailed view retains source context such as the PO, supplier, receipt date, origin, grade, size, label and True Unit Cost.
Users can filter by warehouse or view all warehouses together. The result is an availability view that reflects both the commercial identity of the produce and where it is located.
Reservations make commitments visible before the final sale
A reservation represents product being held for a customer before a final sales order exists.
A real reservation can hold specific PO lines, and it can be blocked so those units are protected from other sales. A virtual reservation acts as a planning placeholder until specific inventory is selected later.
Those commitments are visible in inventory instead of living only in calls, messages or individual memory.
When a reservation moves from an inventory commitment into an actual customer order, the deeper workflow becomes sales, CRM and customer credit from live availability.
Incoming product can become visible before it arrives
Fresh produce businesses often need to make commercial decisions while product is still moving.
When an Ordered PO line is enabled for pre-sale, SLAKPI can show that incoming product as pre-sale inventory so it can be reserved or sold before receipt. Once the product is physically received, the inventory record continues from the same purchase source.
The upstream control of that incoming product begins with purchasing, PO change control and landed-cost construction.
For importers, incoming availability sits inside a broader chain of purchasing, landed cost, supplier documents and margin. That business situation continues in the fresh produce importer workflow.
Surface perishable inventory before age becomes invisible
Fresh produce does not carry the same operational risk at every age.
SLAKPI supports category-specific aging thresholds and surfaces product that has remained in stock beyond its configured threshold. The Operations Tracker can also flag stale reservations, draft orders holding inventory too long and stock-deficit situations.
The inventory view includes an Old Inventory indicator so teams can identify product that needs attention without treating every category as if it had the same shelf-life pattern.
See inventory across locations without turning visibility into warehouse execution
SLAKPI can show stock for an individual warehouse or across all warehouses.
When physical product is transferred or received, its location changes and the inventory view updates accordingly. The detailed operational work of receiving, transferring and preparing product belongs to warehouse operations and fulfillment.
This page stays focused on the result of that work: what inventory exists, where it sits and what remains available.
Trace product from the purchase source to the customer allocation
SLAKPI keeps operational traceability at the PO-line level.
From a customer sale, the business can trace backward to the purchase-order lines that supplied the product, including supplier, PO, receipt date, origin and landed-cost context.
From a PO line, the business can trace forward to the sales orders, reservations and dropshipping deals that used that product.
That same connection means the cost of the specific purchased units used in a sale can remain attached to the commercial result. When that cost question becomes the primary concern, continue into true cost and business profitability.
The practical result is a connected answer to two everyday produce questions: Where did these units come from? and Where did this purchased product go?
